Assess, share and improve
Close the teaching cycle without turning visual polish into the measure of historical learning. Review the evidence trail, choose an appropriate audience and capture one improvement for the next class.
Review the final product alongside the corrected DRAFT and REFLECT responses. Look for:
- Traceable evidence: important claims connect to identifiable source details.
- A meaningful comparison: the investigated perspective changes or complicates understanding.
- Context without mind-reading: inferences are qualified and hindsight is controlled.
- Honest uncertainty: gaps remain visible rather than becoming invented detail.
- Dignity: people are not reduced to stereotypes or used merely for dramatic effect.
- Tool judgement: students explain what tools helped with and what remained their responsibility.
A technically simple story may show stronger historical reasoning than a polished production. This guide does not prescribe grades or claim an approved rubric; adapt the criteria to the school’s assessment framework.
- Where did students confuse a discovery tool with the actual source?
- Which context or vocabulary was missing from the source pack?
- Where did students infer feelings or hindsight too quickly?
- Which timing estimate, grouping choice or technology requirement did not fit?
- What one source, prompt or scaffold should change next time?
Keep examples anonymous when exchanging practice with colleagues. A useful shared note names the difficulty, the evidence students had and the adaptation that helped, rather than ranking classes or exposing student work without permission.
An optional teacher debrief may consider the value and cost of AI use, including environmental considerations. Keep it qualitative unless you have a reliable, relevant source; do not attach unsupported precision to one classroom task.
- Assessment looks at product, DRAFT evidence trail and REFLECT together.
- Sharing has a clear audience and follows school rules.
- Sources and generated material are identified.
- One concrete change is recorded for the next run.
